The Optical

I was commissioned to produce photographs that would be a part of the renovations and redecoration at Haik Humble Eye Care, using antique and current optical tools from the doctors’ and administrators’ private collections. I was very excited for the opportunity to document some very interesting objects, including Clarke’s Synoptophore, antique bakelite opera glasses, and vintage frames and glass. It was a perfect opportunity for me to use my own ideas about interest, identity, and collections – the doctors and staff at Haik Humble are devoted to their work, and a presentation of collected personal items displayed in the office is a great way to demonstrate that, and share it with patients.

They are also good conversation starters, which is very important in a medical office, where open communication is the greatest key to success
